Pupil Premium

Coronavirus Closure

Following on from the updated Government directive on school closures in the Leicester and Leicestershire area, Sir Jonathan North is now closed from Tuesday 30th June to all students except children of key workers who have registered for a place.

The Pupil Premium grant was introduced in 2011 and is a sum of money given to schools each year by the government to improve the attainment of eligible students.

Eligible students include those who:

  • are currently claiming Free School Meals (FSM)
  • have claimed school meals in the last six years (Ever 6)
  • are ‘In Service’ by having parents who have served in the armed forces within the last 4 years
  • are Looked After Children (LAC)

The funding is allocated to a range of strategies identified by the school to improve outcomes for Pupil Premium students. Some examples of Pupil Premium allocation are:

  • High quality teaching for all
  • Providing the support of academic mentors
  • Providing teaching assistants in English and mathematics
  • Setting up a staffed homework club
  • Purchasing academic materials and resources
  • Widening participation visits
  • Brilliant Club

Sir Jonathan North will also be allocating each Pupil Premium eligible student £100 of funding to use towards educational resources and activities. If you are a parent of a Pupil Premium student you can click here to view a copy of the letter sent to you.
