As part of Lionheart Venues, we are part of a group of contemporary multi-use facilities available for hire throughout Leicestershire. The Lionheart Educational Trust schools have successfully hosted many memorable occasions, events and activities over the years.

A celebration of cultures

A key event in the academic calendar, the occasion was a fantastic opportunity for the school community to acknowledge the multitude of cultures and religions that are present at Sir Jonathan North Girls’ College. Throughout the day, a collection of engaging activities – some interactive and some classroom-based – were set up, each one designed to educate students about different cultures and religious groups. MFL Spelling Champions

Taking on other secondary schools within the Trust, our talented linguists had to learn a list of 150 words – either in French or Spanish. Then, in intense one-minute rounds, they were tested on these words, translating them from English into their chosen language, ensuring they were spelt correctly. Anthea Bell Translation Prize Winners

Set up by the University of Oxford in 2020, the competition aims to promote a passion for language learning across the UK. Participating students are tasked with translating a challenging authentic text from either French or Spanish into English. They receive no support from teachers or parents and the texts are deliberately chosen so that online translation tools cannot be used. Since 2004, IQM have been celebrating the work schools across the United Kingdom undertake to promote inclusivity, with over 5,500 having either received an Inclusive Award, or working towards it.
