Inclusivity Champions
Following a successful application, we are thrilled to have been named as one of nine schools who have secured Inclusion Quality Mark’s (IQM) National Champion Award for 2024/25.IQM work with national schools to help them promote inclusivity and diversity through both the academic curriculum and via an enriching extracurricular programme.
Together, they ensure:
- Access and diversity are established
- Achievement is raised for all
- An inclusive culture is fostered
- A successful environment is cultivated.
Having worked with IQM for two decades, we were delighted to once again be recognised as a flagship school in May, achieving the Inclusion Quality Mark for the 12th time. More information about this award can be read here.
IQM were impressed with the opportunities students have to express their opinions, how the school buildings were renamed to acknowledge inspirational women and how the community comes together to mark important cultural and religious events.
With National Champion Award status, though, we have taken the next big leap to ensuring inclusion is woven into every aspect of life at Sir Jonathan North.
An accolade reserved for just a small handful of schools stretching right across the country, ‘Champion’ schools “[demonstrate] excellence when it comes to inclusive practice,” IQM state on their website.
“They create welcoming schools where diversity is cherished and celebrated and are willing to work with other schools to spread the powerful message of inclusion across the UK.”
Over the next academic year, we will work alongside IQM to share our good practice with neighbouring schools. As a ‘National Champion,’ we are also excited to attend the National Inclusion Conference in Birmingham in October, where previous winners are invited to present workshops should they so wish. Other opportunities to represent IQM at local conferences may also arise in the future.
In the more immediate future, however, we look forward to being officially presented with our National Champions banner during the Autumn Term!
More information about IQM and the work they do can be seen here.
