Ishika Madhav
Ishika’s path from Sir Jonathan North Girls' College to a successful career in data and software engineering illustrates the power of embracing new directions. With the strong foundation of confidence and support received from Sir Jonathan North teachers, Ishika developed the resilience and adaptability that would later guide her through a career shift from biomedical science to technology.While her favourite subject at Sir Jonathan North was Maths, Ishika credits her overall experience at the school for shaping her future. "I loved my time at Sir Jonathan North Girls' College!" she says. "The support from all the staff members taught me so much and helped me build confidence, preparing me for life beyond school." The encouragement received empowered Ishika to explore her interests and think broadly about potential career paths.
After completing A-levels at WQE College, Ishika went on to study Biomedical Science at University College London. It was during the final year at university that Ishika had a change of heart about her career direction. After completing her degree, she was inspired to explore a different path in coding. Taking online courses helped her discover a passion for data and software engineering. Ishika trained with Sigma Labs, a technology consultancy firm, and soon after secured a role as a consultant for a major insurance company in London.
Now in a role that combines technology and creativity, Ishika enjoys the variety. Though she is still exploring the exact path she wants to take, she is excited about the learning and development opportunities ahead.
