Local MP visits Sir Jonathan North
Sir Jonathan North was abuzz with excitement as the school welcomed a special guest, local MP Shockat Adam, for an inspiring visit at the start of February.Upon his arrival, Shockat was warmly greeted by Executive Principal James McKenna and Associate Principal Dr. Helen Coles-Hennessy, who led him on an engaging tour of the school grounds. The tour provided an opportunity to showcase our recent outstanding Ofsted result and discuss potential collaborations to further support the local community.
The highlight of the visit was Shockat's interaction with a group of enthusiastic citizenship students. Eager to delve into the world of local and national politics, the students posed a series of insightful questions to him.
They were keen to learn about the impactful changes Shockat has implemented in his constituency, such as amplifying the voices of the people of Leicester South, providing essential healthcare assistance, and supporting the education of individuals from war-torn countries.
Shockat candidly shared the challenges he faces as an Independent MP, emphasising the importance of staying true to his principles, working collaboratively with diverse groups, and adapting to his role as a public figure. The conversation also touched on pressing community issues, including housing shortages, advancements in healthcare through AI, and the implications of global conflicts.
The visit left a lasting impression on both students and staff, inspiring them to think critically about the role of politics in shaping their community and the world. Sir Jonathan North looks forward to future opportunities to engage with leaders like Shockat and continue fostering a spirit of civic responsibility and community involvement.
