MFL Spelling Champions

In June, we took eight of our Year 7 students to Judgemeadow Community College to compete in the final of the annual Lionheart Spelling Champions Competition.

Taking on other secondary schools within the Trust, our talented linguists had to learn a list of 150 words – either in French or Spanish.

Then, in intense one-minute rounds, they were tested on these words, translating them from English into their chosen language, ensuring they were spelt correctly.

Up against strong competition, our students shone, coming in first place in the schools’ category for French.

Alongside the whole-school competition, organisers also hosted individual events, within which our students also soared. Four girls reached the final in the Spanish round, whilst the French individual competition saw Masirah finish in second and Asiyah finish first.

Our cohort returned to school clutching an impressive hoard of medals and trophies.

A massive congratulations to all of the students, who showed great resilience and confidence - you were amazing!
