Year 9 Students Embark on Shakespearean Adventure in Stratford-upon-Avon

In late January, we took 45 Year 9 students on a fantastic trip to Stratford-upon-Avon.

The birthplace of William Shakespeare, the trip was a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their understanding of one of England’s most famous playwrights.

It also allowed them to deepen their knowledge of theatre performances and the overall plot of Romeo and Juliet – a play they’re currently studying in English lessons and will look at in greater detail throughout their GCSEs.

Students toured the historic town, visited Shakespeare’s birthplace and participated in an interactive workshop at the Royal Shakespeare Company Theatre.

Here, some of our more reserved students oozed confidence while performing segments of Shakespearean plays in front of their peers. The experience also allowed them to discover enlightening facts about Shakespeare that, previously, they were unaware of.

Students had a wonderful time on the trip. Their behaviour was impeccable and the knowledge they gleaned will support them in their current and future studies.
